Summer in Austin doesn’t ask—it demands—a good dip. Whether you’re craving a rooftop cocktail with a poolside view, a secret natural spring under a canopy of cypress trees, or just a chill neighborhood spot to take the kids, Austin has a swim scene as vibrant as the city itself.
As someone who lives, works, and plays in ATX, I’ve curated a guide to the best pools around—spots that reflect Austin’s mix of upscale cool, quirky charm, and community spirit.
Fairmont Austin – With the largest rooftop pool in town, this one’s all about sky-high lounging and city views. Day passes available.
South Congress Hotel – A go-to for stylish locals. Their rooftop pool, paired with snacks from Café No Sé, makes this a chic daycation.
The LINE Austin – Want lake views and a saltwater infinity pool? Done. Grab a day pass and soak it in.
Austin Motel – Funky, retro, and full of character. Their Swim Club lets you access the iconic kidney-shaped pool for a few hours or all day.
Barton Springs Pool – Iconic, spring-fed, and steady at 68°F year-round. This is peak Austin energy with a side of people-watching.
Deep Eddy Pool – The oldest swimming pool in Texas. Great for laps and a sense of nostalgia with its minimalist vibe.
Blue Hole (Wimberley) – Worth the scenic drive. A shady oasis framed by towering trees and crystal-clear waters. Reservations recommended.
Krause Springs – 32 natural springs in a fairy-tale setting out in Spicewood. Bring a picnic and your floaties.
Shipe Pool (Hyde Park) – Nestled in one of Austin’s most beloved neighborhoods, this free city pool is the ultimate local’s choice.
Big Stacy Pool (Travis Heights) – A quiet, year-round spring-fed pool with a warm and welcoming vibe.
Northwest Pool – Lap swim, splash, or sunbathe—this one's beloved by north Austin families and fitness buffs alike.
Many hotel pools offer passes via ResortPass, and neighborhood pools often update their hours on Austin Parks & Rec’s site. Always check before you go—especially if you’re bringing littles or planning to make a day of it.
Whether you’re planning a lazy Sunday float, a post-showing cooldown, or just chasing that perfect summer vibe, these spots will have you covered. Got a favorite I missed? Please share! —I love discovering hidden gems in this city we call home.
